Method

  1. Scrub potato on all sides to clean the surface.
  2. Pierce skin of potato with a fork or small-tipped object to create holes for inside pressure.
  3. Clean and prepare potatoes as above.
  4. Cook over medium-hot coals for 45 minutes or until soft.
  5. Serve with salt and butter or sour cream.
  6. Clean and prepare potatoes as above, but wrap them in plastic wrap, not foil. Be sure to poke the potato with a fork to make sure it is cooked evenly and does not explode in the microwave due to pressure.
  7. Place a piece of paper towel in the microwave, and microwave potatoes on high for 8 minutes. Potatoes will be extremely hot when finished.
  8. Cut potato into four and serve with toppings of your choice.
  9. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
  10. Clean and prepare potatoes as above.
  11. Place the potatoes in the oven.
  12. Cook for 1 hour.
  13. Remove when cooked. Puncture potato and separate skin from flesh.

Notes

  • Other possible toppings include spicy beans, avocado, salsa, bacon bits, mushrooms grated cheese... or whatever is left in the fridge!

Warnings

  • When cooking is initially completed, handle the hot potato with care.
