Ove (Nigerian Yam Moi Moi)

Ove is a typical Nigerian pudding prepared from yam.

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp chile pepper paste
  • 1 medium-sized yam, peeled and grated
  • ¼ cup shredded fish
  • 2 tbsp groundnut oil
  • ¼ ea. onion, chopped
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 wrapping leaf (e.g. banana leaf)

Method

  1. Remove unwanted substances from the fish. Then, rinse and cook for few minutes.
  2. Combine the groundnut oil, onion, pepper paste, and fish to make a sauce.
  3. Stir the sauce into the grated yam along with the salt.
  4. Wrap this mixture up in the leaf, then boil for a few minutes to cook it.
